I chose this as the Staged Illistration, i like this picture because it's funny to see that this little kid, wouild want to eat, and act somewhat, all grown up, we all know this wouldn't naturally happen.
This photo is The Composite Photo, I like this picture because it's showing over time techology changes, from records to ipods. Having it to deal with the same subject but in a different matter.
This is the photo that is made into art,i like this picture becuase it looks very settle, like something you can't really put your finger on it.

12.Surroundings-I like how you can see most of downtown austin, and the lighting isn't too bad, it casts a shadow in the back, i liked this picture the most cause it has a lot going on, with the buildings, and cars, give you a lot of options to look at, but your eye goes dirtectly to the bridge that is there in the middle.

Name of photographer -Travis Haughton
General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)-Sports,events,emotion
List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio -Doesn’t look staged.Don’t like pictures of sign if you can’t read it,and or Blocked face or head.
List two things the judges like-Lighting, lot's of levels, somewhat graphic.
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?I like how he would capture true emotion, but his pictures are something you'd see everyday in a magazine or newspaper,i rather see something interesting i've never seen before without making a bad comment about it. I didn't like how he didn't fill most of the frame, and most pictures were blank, didn't have a story to it, what so ever.

What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it?Color composition, busy, creative, had a story, very unique.

What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses? The stregths i saw, was that this photographer made sure he really got in there,so if you were to see the picture, you'd feel that emotion, or event happening. His weaknesses were Proabably his pictures were blurry, but to the judges it was a cool effect.

the judges go through some of the students portfolios, and see if there is a great story, if all the pictures are strong enough to just tell that story without having to read a caption. They make their judgment saying whether one or two pictures throws it all off, or their all just very strong pictures. which to them Dustin had won the compitetition.

PART TWO!
-The photo i agree with on the judges is the picture of the girls running falling over each other, it makes you want to see what is going to happen next, the girls are just about to tumble over each other braking some bones maybe, who knows it's an exciting picture.

2/06/08

To me this photo is informal and formal, they are dressed in uniform. This is a candid shot of the prisoners working on the tracks. This is more a Informal picture, they're not posing, nor looking at the camera.

I read for about 20 mins.
And my favorite poem is Cross.
I liked that poem because he was talking about White and black!
And that he just isn't one,he's both. If his mother was raised poorly, yet his dad the white man, wasn't. How is he, Parks, going to live, having the lifestyle of both worlds, that's the question.

Is it ok?

<

I think that it is completely wrong to change a person, especially their own features. Putting alot of make up on is one thing, but, changing their lips, ears, face structure, neck size, eye color, and everything beyond is just plain wrong.
Seeing someone "beautiful" on a bilboard makes people look, turn heads. They could look up to them as role models. And to come find out that it's not really them,Yeah.

Putting on make up and a few touch ups to the hair,is just fine, and natural, but going all out extreme like i had explained, isn't RIGHT. Nor the TRUTH. It's false advertising.

The difference between fashion photography and photojournalism is that in photojournalism the photographers capture what's right. very little changes here and there, and go in the newspaper,or of some sort.
And in Fashion photography, they use those models as advertising, make people think, that if you buy that certain dress or make up the model is wearing that the person who purchases it will feel much more beautiful,it's not reality.
